Can you go to the new world in Medieval 2?
About Total War: MEDIEVAL II
You cannot discover America, you need to wait for an event called "the world is round" to happen. Once that happens, you can build large ships like carracks and can then sail to America. I think discovery is like +120 turn.
The foremost prerequisite that decides whether factions are permitted to travel to the New World in the Grand Campaign is the event entitled “The World Is Round”, which is approximately expected to trigger between the years 1400-1408 A.D, which using the default time scale equates to around approximately 160-164 turns.
Re: What happens if I take over Rome? You will be excommunicated, and the Pope will live in the woods around Rome till he gets a new province.
Open it and move all factions listed under 'unlockable' to 'playable'. To reach America you have to wait until the 'The World is round' event happens. That should be between turn 160 and 164. Then you can build the new port, in which you can build Carracks, the only ships capable of reaching America.
For vanilla M2TW it's 111 total, including the Americas.
You can also play the Mongols by playing the Kingdoms expansion's Teutonic Campaign, or in the M2TW grand campaign by using the Custom Campaign Mods 1 or 2, or the Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod.
I may have no experience in modding, but I have figured out how to play with Papal States,Aztecs and Rebels. Go to C: > Program Files > SEGA > Medieval 2 Total War > data > world > maps > campaign > imperial_campaign > descr_strat,and cut/paste papal_states under ''playable'' section. Now save and close the file.
Markets and wharfs increase the amount of income from trade substantially, and ports and wharfs increase the amount of export trade routes you can have. Also, trading rights greatly increase the amount of money from ports with that faction, and you should get them at any cost.
The campaign is set between the years 1080 and 1530. Players assume control of a medieval state, referred to in the game as a faction, and control its government, economy, military, diplomacy, and religion on a map spanning most of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
How long is the medieval 2 campaign?
When focusing on the main objectives, Medieval II: Total War is about 31½ Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 135 Hours to obtain 100% completion.
New World is set in an alternate-history in the twilight of the Age of Exploration, and takes place on the fictional and supernatural island of Aeternum in the 17th century.
Rome's wasn't horrible, but Medieval 2 definitely was superior in this facet. Troop Recruitment and Management: Medieval 2, easily. Armies function the same way, but Medieval 2 has a much better recruitment system. In Rome, once you built a higher tier unit, there was little reason to build the lower tier one.
For the Mongols, the best place to fight them is anywhere you can bottleneck them. Place forts with weak units around Antioch, particularly at river crossings, and then keep a strong army ready to back it up. Let the Mongol's take the forts and then besiege them inside of it.
What deos becoming a vassal mean? Does it mean surendering to enemy factions? Basically you do not have control over your own diplomacy and have to pay the faction that imposed vassalage on you a certain portion of your revenues. If the dominate faction goes to war the vassal faction must also join her.
Medieval II Total War is clearly a very simplified version of the historical period. Much of the mechanics of society and government at the time are not represented - for example dynastic politics is tangental if involved at all in Medieval Total War.
The second-ever 3D Total War game, Medieval 2 is widely considered as the best in the series by many fans. It's the last title to feature the unique, deeply tactical combat of the early Total War series before the design began changing to its modern design.
The main campaign lasts 225 turns, and my objective is to conquer 45 regions. This works out as taking a region every 5 turns on average. There's little time for slowing up and building your forces or economy. What makes things even worse is the very small movement range of armies.
Med 2 is a very easy game, so whatever faction you play is the most OP one(unless you play as native americans or if you use mods). Generally, the Catholic factions are the strongest all around, they have the best heavy cavalry and heavy infantry, as well as longbows and pavise crossbowmen.
First, you must know that the maximum unit size for Medieval 2 and its expansions are hardcoded- meaning you cannot change it. As far as I know of, the maximum unit size for a Medieval 2 unit is 252 men. That is 250 soldiers + a banner carrier and standard bearer.
Are the Timurids playable in medieval 2?
Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition
Without extensive modification, you cannot play the Mongols/Aztecs/Timurids because they don't 'exist' at the start of the campaign which even if you modify the ini. file to let you pick them in Single Player, the game will just crash if you try to play their campaign.
The best way to kill Timurids, and Mongols as well, is to build up balista and cannon towers in your settlements, and then let them siege you. When they try to assault your town or castle, your towers will blow them away as they try to attack.
Total War: MEDIEVAL II - Definitive Edition
To add rebels in the campaign, go to your Medieval 2 Total War file, then go to the descr_strat file in Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign. The "slave", or rebel, faction will now be playable in the grand campaign.
If you destroy all Papal territories, they will continue to exist and the Pope will spawn somewhere.
Re: What happens when you conquer the Papal States? Papal states can never be defeated. The Pope just wanders around with an army and no city and will try to find a city to occupy. Even if there are no cardinals left to become Pope, as soon as a cardinal appear, it will become the pope.
